donevents started in 2020 as a directory of event vendors. It did not sell tickets like adunat.ro: it brought together the people who make an event happen, from event planners and florists to venues, so that anyone preparing a wedding, a party or a company event could find them all in one place and contact them directly.

A directory has to work for two audiences at once. Vendors need to want to be listed and keep their profile up to date; people organising an event need to find what they are looking for quickly, by type of service and by area. Both sides had to be built and had to feed each other.

I designed and developed the whole platform: the structure by vendor category, each business profile and the search, built so the client could reach the vendor with no middleman. It was a fairly complex website for its time, with a lot of communication with the client so the platform matched how the industry really works.

The platform launched in 2020, right when the COVID-19 pandemic stopped weddings, parties and company events overnight. With no events there was no one to connect with vendors, and the project closed.

A directory depends entirely on the industry it serves. The platform worked, but no product survives if its market disappears overnight. It was a lesson about the risk of depending on a single industry.
